Trihexyphenidyl has been beneficial for me at a 2mg dosage in alleviating the akathisia I experience due to ziprasidone. However, it occasionally results in short-term memory impairment.

I’ve been taking this medication for years while living in Puerto Rico. Recently, I started experiencing hallucinations and weight loss. I’m no longer able to properly care for myself. Now that I’m living in the US, my current doctor questions whether I truly have Parkinson’s disease. I do have some tremors, but they could be a side effect of the medication itself. During the 8 weeks I’ve been living with my family, I’ve gained 10 pounds. I constantly complain of heartburn, but nothing seems to help. Fortunately, a new neurologist will be seeing me soon, and according to my primary doctor, they’ll likely decrease and gradually discontinue this medication.
