Where should I start? Severe fatigue, pronounced shortness of breath, skin rash, mouth ulcers, back pain, joint pain, irritability, anxiety, depression, changes in taste, loss of appetite – the list is long. How did people survive before this drug was developed who are still alive today? My first trastuzumab infusion almost put me in hospital because of an allergic reaction. I know it’s supposed to be a lifesaver and prevent relapses, even though it doesn’t cross the blood-brain barrier. I wish there was a drug without these severe side effects. I’m not sure if I can continue the treatment. My quality of life has diminished. Doctors only seem to advertise and never listen.
My mother has been undergoing treatments for approximately a year now. Both she and I are content with the medication. So far, she has maintained good health. The only actual side effect she has experienced is mild fatigue and headaches. I would recommend it to other Breast Cancer Patients.
