I started with 5mg on the first day and increased to 20mg on the 6th day.
I didn’t notice any side effects worth mentioning, except that I was really down in the mood at times and felt more tired and dizzy. Nothing that I haven’t had before.
For me, it’s primarily about treating panic and anxiety and also obsessive thoughts.
It has to be said that I ‘only’ switched from vortioxetine, so that the creep-in symptoms are probably minimal to almost non-existent. I switched directly from one day to the next.
I now hope that my symptoms will improve soon.
In an emergency I have opipramol if I can’t manage any more.
switched from fluoxetine to paroxetine (with a psychiatrist). I didn’t feel any side effects at all at first. At some point, however, I complained about extreme drowsiness and sleepiness. These two reasons prompted me to stop paroxetine after a year of treatment, because it had the opposite effect of a happy life if you only want to sleep 24/7.
To summarise briefly:
The positives were:
+ More stable mood, predominantly in the positive range
+ No more sleep problems, fall asleep quickly and sleep through the night
+ No weight gain, no increased feeling of hunger
Negative was:
– Drowsiness, tiredness, sleep attacks
– Opstipation
– Feeling of dizziness
– Indifference
I was prescribed paroxetine 20 mg due to strong obsessive thoughts and the resulting anxiety and panic disorder. When I started taking it, I experienced symptoms such as nausea, lethargy, dizziness, sleep disturbance and strong dreams. Exhaustion. (Spent almost 2 weeks in bed) similar to flu. Symptoms gone after 2 weeks. Unfortunately no improvement in the illness. Then increased the active substance to 40 mg daily on self-instruction. As if out of nowhere, completely symptom-free after approx. 1 week. I felt well again for the first time in a long time and enjoyed life again. No compulsions, no anxiety, no depression. This condition has lasted very well for about 5 years. Due to my stable situation, I have now decided to phase out the medication. A month ago on doctor’s advice from 40 mg to 30 mg. This has worked very well. Slight nausea, nothing else. Month 2: from 30 mg then to 20 mg. After about 5 days, flu-like symptoms, confused dreams, nausea, nausea, depression, anxiety, muscle pain, exhaustion, headaches, dizziness, sensory disturbance, visual disturbance, heavy sweating, hot flushes (horror).
I then went back up to 30 mg. Of course, this has now thrown me off track with my plan.
Conclusion:
The medication has helped me very well to take part in life again and to get my illnesses under control/recover.
However, discontinuing this medication is somewhat more difficult. The withdrawal symptoms are not easy.
I will now take 30 mg for a while and then try to reduce it to 20 mg again.
I took Paroxetine for over 4 years and now wanted to go down from 40 milligrams to 20 and then milligrams worked well with some dizziness,
And when I wanted to stop taking paroxetine, it was hell, I had constant dizziness, heart problems and sleepless nights, so I went back to 10 milligrams.
This drug paroxetine is a disaster when you stop taking it.
I have switched from venlafaxine which I took for about 10 years to paroxetine and I am so glad to have done so no more anxiety and panic. hope it stays that way.
I began using this medication two years ago to alleviate symptoms of menopause and feelings of not being myself. It proved to be quite beneficial. I did observe some weight gain. The challenging part now is attempting to discontinue its use. I’m currently on the smallest dose, but it’s been a rollercoaster trying to stop. Sometimes I feel fantastic, and other times I feel as low and irritable as possible. I would be grateful for any shared experiences on successful discontinuation of this medication.
