My doctor was supposed to help me with my PMS. I was sometimes unbearable and prone to stress after my second pregnancy. The Mirena only made everything worse. I also had constant abdominal pain, stomach cramps, headaches and dizziness every day, repeated heart flutters and spotting for 9 months, which lasted between 15 and 16 days every month.
I had the Mirena inserted over a year ago because I know that many people tolerate it well. Today I just want to get rid of it, because my health has been getting worse and worse for a year now. I have gained weight, blood pressure fluctuations, frequent headaches, dizziness and my psyche is suffering. I still have bleeding, albeit irregular. Now that I’ve read all the testimonials here, I’ve realized a few things and I’m 95% sure that my problems are caused by the IUD. I went to the doctor, had a check-up with ultrasound, everything was OK. As I’m already depressed, I don’t need any more psychological stress. I’m going to have them removed and hope that I’ll regain some quality of life. I often didn’t believe women because the hormones are only supposed to work in the uterus. That’s true, but every body reacts differently. You are not alone. If it doesn’t do you any good, take it out. I can’t recommend it
I had the Mirena inserted by my gynaecologist last summer due to my endometriosis.
I got through the insertion without any problems, but the pain afterwards was quite severe (which I personally hadn’t expected), but in the end it was not that bad.
A few days ago, I had the IUD removed one day after my 2nd endometriosis treatment. There was no retrieval thread to be seen, which made the removal very unpleasant – but I survived.
My personal experiences with the Mirena are unfortunately not good, I had several inflammations in the genital area (vaginosis) during the 10 months, as well as permanent very severe itching in the genital area (only on the outside) and on the nipples, my period was unfortunately extended by several days (10-12 days) and in my opinion (my boyfriend sees it the same way) it also affected my mood and my personality: My mood swings that I usually only had about a week before my period started (PMS) were now kind of permanent, I was listless, didn’t feel like doing anything and was constantly annoyed by everything and sometimes depressed.
In addition, shortly after the Mirena was inserted, my neurodermatitis got significantly worse and I have had many more flare-ups since then than before.
The only positive thing I can really report: my endometriosis pain was significantly less at the beginning! But they also became much stronger again from month 5/6.
Everyone has to test for themselves whether the hormone coil helps and just because I’m talking about my PERSONAL experiences here doesn’t mean that it’s the same for everyone! The proof of the pudding is in the eating and if you can tolerate it then you have probably found the best contraceptive ever!
I won’t be taking hormones for the time being.
Hello, here is my conclusion after the 4th day with the Mirena IUD, I had it inserted as a trial to reduce bleeding and possibly get rid of headaches. I have Hashimoto’s and gastritis type A and I personally would advise against it, my values were actually always top but after insertion I had panic attacks at night, wanted it out again, psyche is over at the moment, tearful and depressed, abdomen pulling, but also still bleeding, I think it will take a while, there was actually a report on the internet that wrote the same thing, only she was actually in the emergency room in the evening so as not to pluck the IUD out herself, I’m still holding on bravely and keeping my fingers crossed to hold out a little longer, but to hold out for personal reasons
Two years after the birth of my daughter, my doctor recommended the hormone coil to me after an abortion. There should be nothing comparable. So I had the IUD inserted. After about 3 months, my period stopped completely. I was very happy, but after two years it started to pull in my lower abdomen on the right side and sting when I strained. It became more and more frequent until at some point it was very mild pain. I asked three different gynecologists for advice and the cause within 2 years. They all said that the IUD was in place, everything was fine and that I should ask a GP, maybe it had something to do with the bowel. Then the pain got worse and worse. My doctor told me that I could leave the IUD in for another 3 years and told me again that the pain had nothing to do with the IUD. I had it removed anyway and after about 3 weeks there was no more pulling, stinging or pain.
So I clearly noticed the IUD and my body resisted it.
