Headaches, blurred vision, temporary concentration disorders, personality changes with adjustment disorders, especially in the case of psychological stress, punctual intake +/- 1 h significantly reduces the side effects

I was given lamotrigine for my depression as a mood stabiliser. I tolerated the medication well in the first few days and also had the feeling that it was helping me. Then, after 2.5 weeks, I developed large bruises without bumping myself. I have huge haematomas on my arms, legs and hips. As the package leaflet says to see a doctor immediately if you get bruises, I did so. A blood clotting disorder was diagnosed. I stopped taking the medication immediately.

  3. Stevens Johnson

Stay away from lamotrigine. I was prescribed it as a harmless drug. It is the purest poison!
I fell ill with Stevens Johnson syndrome and have suffered from the severe consequences all my life. Nobody is held responsible. Except me! Why was I so naive to trust the doctor who told me the poison was harmless!

Lamotrigine worked DIRECTLY for me, even at an initial dose of 25 mg. Increased to 400 mg over the years. I’m doing relatively well on it, it’s actually the only thing that helps. Side effects? Libido normal, eating behaviour normal … actually everything normal with the difference that I am calm and balanced. ZERO personality change – on the contrary, the old me that was there before the burnout is back. It certainly can’t work magic, but it helps. But the dose has to be right, I actually needed the 400 mg. It’s very important to drink enough fluids, otherwise you’ll get a bad headache and nausea.

I have been taking lamotrigine 200 mg for about half a year, in addition to 500 mg levetiracetam twice a day. It should be mood-enhancing, as I suffer a lot from depression due to levetiracetam. Haven’t noticed anything yet. Instead, I have joint pain, dizziness, coughing, sleep problems, tiredness, lack of energy and drive, suffer from double vision and generally don’t feel very well.
