I’ve been taking it since 2021 and am supposed to take it until 2030
Letrozole since 2021
Breast cancer 2020
I have also had a Hashimoto’s diagnosis since 2019
At the beginning the monthly injection, since one year the 3 monthly injection.
I am very happy to get the 3 monthly injection because I feel the hormone fluctuations 1-14 days after the injection, restlessness and not so resilient.
Side effects :
Nausea, hot flushes, joint stiffness
Since this year also less desire 2024
After the injection I also suspected Hashimoto’s relapses.
Blood pressure fluctuations (that’s the worst thing at the moment)
Sensory disturbance in fingers in cold weather may be due to the chemo
Restlessness, difficulty concentrating
I’ve also had a snapping thumb which has gone away again.
I will continue to monitor it and try to get the blood pressure fluctuations under control.
If I can’t manage it, I’m thinking of switching to tablet therapy only or having my ovaries removed.
After my breast cancer was initially treated with chemotherapy, I continued seamlessly with anti-hormone treatment after the last chemo session: Tamoxifen combined with Goserelin. I was given the Goserelin implant every 4 weeks for 2 years. The treatment was like a rollercoaster ride. Especially at the beginning of the treatment, I had to deal with severe hot flushes and anxiety. From time to time I experienced depressive moods and was extremely irritable. I also felt tingling and numbness in my fingertips and toes from time to time. I also struggled with sleep problems and even temporary insomnia. This was also accompanied by concentration problems.
The side effects were alleviated with regular exercise. I also had the feeling that the severity of the side effects depended very much on how the implant was placed. As I only have a little fat on my stomach, the doctor sometimes placed the implant a little too low. This resulted in pain when tensing the abdominal muscles and increased bleeding.
Despite everything, cancelling the procedure was out of the question for me. Although I found the side effects really exhausting at times, I wanted to do everything I could to avoid a recurrence.
