As I have to get up at 4am every morning and go to bed in broad daylight “thanks” to daylight saving time, I wanted to try doxylamine to help me fall asleep faster. According to the package insert, everything sounds great – duration of action up to 6 hours and no tiredness afterwards… I also followed the dosage recommendation and took one tablet 1/2 hour before going to bed.
It worked like a charm even after this time, I fell into a coma. I slept through the night better and woke up at 4am. After getting up, I felt completely dazed and couldn’t concentrate on anything. I couldn’t do everyday routine tasks and even forgot things that I had obviously memorized. This is my idea of Alzheimer’s! The forgetfulness improved over the course of the day, but the drowsiness and tiredness lasted the whole day. Horrible when you have to work and a negligence to freely sell and trivialize such sleeping pills. I will never take this stuff again! I’d rather lie awake all night.

Allergic conjunctivitis is my condition. Doxylamine aiding me in drifting into slumber and maintaining that blissful state. However, it’s not without its quirks. A parched mouth greets me in the morning, and occasionally, I find myself moving at a leisurely pace after a solid 8 hours of rest. My eyes, too, seem to bear the brunt, perhaps exacerbated by this remedy. But let’s not forget the silver lining: it has resolved my sleep woes, especially during my struggle with hypothyroidism. As a post-menopausal individual with asthma, sleep apnea, obesity, and a bouquet of allergies, I’ve come to appreciate its peculiar dance of benefits and side effects.
