After starting on the advice of my gynaecologist, I found the first three months quite hard. I had irregular periods and was constantly irritable. I almost gave up, but then everything settled down and now it’s as if I’d never started the pill. No more bleeding and my hormone levels seem to have calmed down. I’m glad I stuck it out.
I chose the desogestrel pill because of its tolerability during breastfeeding. Unfortunately, I didn’t react well to it – my skin got worse and I often felt tired. Maybe it’s my body, but I will probably have to switch to another method.
As someone who has always had problems with oestrogen-containing pills, I was relieved to have the option of taking the desogestrel. It suits me perfectly! No headaches, no nausea – I feel like myself, just without the fear of an unwanted pregnancy.I am very satisfied and will stick with it.
My experience with the pill is ambivalent. On the one hand, I love the convenience of taking it and that I don’t have to worry about my fertility. On the other hand, I struggle with intermenstrual bleeding that just won’t stop. It’s frustrating and I’m not sure I’m going to stick with it long term.
It was dreadful. I experienced severe symptoms such as exhaustion, nausea, vomiting, migraines, and mood fluctuations. The symptoms were not mild, they were intense. I found myself spending a significant amount of time just lying on the sofa due to the illness. I persevered for about 7 weeks to see if there would be any improvement, but there was none. Roughly a week after discontinuing the medication, the symptoms began to lessen.
