As I have a history of asthma, infections quickly get into my airways and I sometimes have an annoying chesty cough for weeks on end which weakens me.
I received the medication for the first time at the beginning of the year 24. The effectiveness is good but I feel like I’m drugged up and I have constipation the whole time I’m taking it.
But because of the good effectiveness and because sometimes nothing else helps, I’m already taking it a second time.
Although it is recommended to take the first one in the morning, I only took it at lunchtime when I had done all the shopping and the like because it usually ‘blows me away’.
As I’m on sick leave anyway, I just lie down.
I would strongly advise you not to drive a car, cycle, motorbike etc. after taking it because you would feel like you’ve been drugged up.
I used codeine for severe coughing fits and the effect was impressive. I noticed a significant improvement within a few days. However, I also had to contend with mild nausea as a side effect. Nevertheless, it was worth it for me!
My experience with codeine was a bit up and down. On the one hand, it was really effective in treating my chronic cough, which kept me up at night. On the other hand, taking it led to constipation and fatigue, which made my daily life more difficult. I had to work with my doctor to find the right dose and eventually we achieved a balance. I am happy with the effect, but you should be aware of the possible side effects.
Considering the cost of codeine, I think it’s a good choice. It effectively relieved my pain and the price was reasonable compared to other medications I’ve tried. Would recommend it to others looking for a cost effective solution.
I have tried codeine in both drops and tablets and found the drops easier to use and more effective for my specific situation. The ability to adjust the dose precisely was a big advantage. Although I was skeptical at first, the experience won me over. However, I would advise being cautious and working closely with a doctor to avoid dependency. Overall, I would recommend codeine based on my experience, but with the warning that it is not suitable for everyone.
As someone who has tried many different painkillers, I found codeine to be mediocre in terms of tolerability. It managed my pain well, but the side effects were harder for me to manage than expected. I experienced fatigue and a certain sluggishness that made it difficult for me to go about my day normally. It is effective, yes, but I wish the side effects were less. But I am also very sensitive.
The necessity to increase the dosage for effectiveness, or to occasionally pause its use, lends a degree of unpredictability to this medication. Contrary to some people’s experiences, it doesn’t induce sleepiness in me. In fact, it slightly elevates my energy levels. At my current dosage of 30 mg, I don’t experience a noticeable euphoria, even when consuming alcohol. Refills for this medication must be sent via mail, not faxed to the pharmacy or personally delivered. Interestingly, I’ve noticed that prescriptions for this medication often go missing in transit from the doctor’s office to the pharmacy, a phenomenon I’ve not encountered with any other drug. Compared to some other opioids, it’s less addictive. I occasionally abstain from it for a week or so and don’t experience any cravings or withdrawal symptoms.
