I took the tablets once before and had a bad chesty cough that I couldn’t get rid of for months. It was very stressful as I could hardly sleep at night because of the coughing. Then my legs and arms were always incredibly sore. My left arm/hand became stiff and I couldn’t do much with my arm.
I now realise that it’s because of the tablets, as I took a long break from taking them. Now I’ve been taking them again for a week and everything is starting all over again.

    I first took the antihypertensive
in the morning (8 mg), everything was OK then. As my blood pressure was still too high, I was also told to take 8 mg candesteran in the evening
Since then I have had severe side effects!
    I feel extremely bad.
I have a tight feeling in my chest, tingling in my face, legs, hands and arms! I have extreme
restlessness due to these side effects & extreme fear that I am having a bad illness. Sometimes my flanks hurt. I can’t breathe easily, have extreme back pain, sleep disturbance because I’m scared! My doctor said that this couldn’t actually be caused by the medication! But I’ve had it since increasing the dose. She said I could stop taking it. I read everywhere that it is extremely dangerous to simply stop taking an antihypertensive and am considering reducing the medication first, i.e. only taking it in the morning and then stopping it. Then I think maybe I’ll start it straight away and monitor my blood pressure closely! I am unsure.

After switching from clonidine 200 mg due to apheresis to candesartan initially 16 mg, the side effects became apparent after just a few days. Insomnia/tiredness, slight drowsiness and confusion, headaches and very poorly adjustable values. Because of the apheresis, there is currently no alternative on the market specifically for me due to previous illnesses, as the other medications clog the filter system of the devices or are intolerable.

After about four weeks of taking the medication candesartan 8 mg, I could no longer sleep naturally at all. I pointed this out to the doctor, who said that I had other problems and that it was definitely not due to candesartan. Unfortunately, I believed him and I doubted myself and only thought about what I might have… and had the hardest time of my life. I could only sleep with sleeping pills and only for 2 to 3 hours, I was restless and unable to do anything and lost a lot of weight.
The weight loss normalised my blood pressure and fortunately I stopped taking it. After a week I was sleeping just as well as before taking it. This drug is just awful!!!

After I started it left eye pain with swelling, headache confused, more lung problems, cramps, muscle pain, vision problems. DOCTORS say must take the pills because of heart attack stroke.
To be honest I’m fed up with the medication, it doesn’t do me any good.

After about three days, I experienced massive pain in various joints and muscles throughout my body. I could still walk upright for 3 minutes, then I had to sit down. In the evening I had to prop my head up as it felt ‘too heavy’. Physiotherapy alleviated the pain but I still couldn’t walk for more than 3 minutes. It took months before the tablets were finally recognised as the cause, as every doctor confirmed to me that this medication was wonderfully well tolerated and had almost no side effects. Three days after stopping the medication, the pain had disappeared.

At first I took 16 mg (1 tablet), then 8 mg (1/2 tablet).
    My blood pressure went down.
    Side effects are:
Headache (pressure in the head), pain in the shoulder, slight burning in the face, pressure on the ears, tiredness.
I have been taking 4 mg since today. Blood pressure is
122-132:76/86. Let’s see what the side effects say.

Tablets are taken quickly! But what about the side effects? After taking candesartan 8 mg or 16 mg, I became very restless and the feeling of well-being turned into a depressive mood, which I find very unpleasant! I also had more ringing in my ears and often had diarrhoea. I have slight cardiac arrhythmia and also take blood thinners. After taking candesartan, I may have an irregular heartbeat for a short time. This is not always the case, but it has happened before. In short, I don’t feel well after taking candesartan and am considering changing the medication!

I actually tolerated candesartan quite well, but I kept experiencing severe back pain, even painkillers didn’t help. My doctor said that the back pain could not be caused by the medication.
I stopped taking candesartan on my own and the back pain was gone from one day to the next.
After three days I went to another doctor who said that I should only take another medication if necessary.

I have now been through almost all the blood pressure medication.
With candesartan, the coughing and severe headaches started on the 2nd day. I also felt cold and dizzy. Unfortunately, these antihypertensives are all poorly tolerated by me.

  12. High blood pressure

I have headaches almost every day. Joint pain for a few weeks now. Heart palpitations in the evening.

  13. Mauri

No more natural sleep possible, doctor didn’t believe it, no more sleep problems after discontinuation!

I have been taking it for a few months because of my high blood pressure. My values have improved significantly and I feel better overall. However, I had to get used to feeling slightly dizzy at the beginning. I think it’s an effective medication as long as you keep an eye on the side effects.

My values keep spiking upwards. Unfortunately, I also feel constant pressure on my ears.

When my doctor prescribed me candesartan, I was skeptical. I had been struggling with high blood pressure and the resulting symptoms for years. But after just the first few weeks, I felt a change. My blood pressure dropped to levels I hadn’t seen for years. Admittedly, the first few days were not easy. Dizziness and a certain tiredness accompanied me, but these side effects subsided. What really won me over was the ease of use – one tablet a day. No complicated regimen, no constant worry. For me, Candesartan has significantly improved my quality of life, even if I would have liked it to be better tolerated.

I have been taking Candesartan on and off for couple of years since big heart attack, I don’t feel better in any way, I have extreme coughing fits to point where I can’t breathe, joint pains, the other night such pain in chest I maybe should have called for an ambulance. I am definitely coming off this medication again. I know it’s supposed to lower blood pressure and help prevent further heart attacks but I want some quality of life back.

  18. hyperkalemia

I wanted to share my experience with candesartan to give others some perspective. While the drug undoubtedly lowered my blood pressure, the side effects were hard for me to ignore. In particular, the impairment of my kidney function and the occurrence of hyperkalemia were alarming. I had to have regular blood tests, which caused additional stress. Despite its effectiveness in controlling blood pressure, I would advise anyone to carefully consider the risks and work closely with their doctor.

  19. REPO

After having little success with various medications for my high blood pressure, Candesartan was a real blessing. Finally a medication that does what it’s supposed to without interfering with my life on a daily basis. Yes, there were a few side effects in the beginning such as mild nausea and fatigue, but these were negligible compared to the benefits. My doctor and I are thrilled with the results. I would like to encourage anyone who is still looking for the right treatment.

Hello,I (female 60 years old) have been taking Candesartan 8mg one tablet in the evening for three months. My blood pressure, especially the diastolic value was always over 100 in the early morning hours (2 o’clock) and I woke up because I felt very unwell. At first I took Ramipril, the blood pressure remained high but I got a strong dry cough as a side effect. With Candesartan my blood pressure went up to optimal levels very quickly but after 3 months I started to have very severe joint and muscle pain, I hardly sleep through the night because of the pain.my GP recommended that I take painkillers.but that can’t be a solution, taking tablets for pain from tablets.I will now slowly phase out Candesartan and hope to find another solution.

Hello, I (female, 47 years old) have been taking Candesartan Zentiva 8mg for a few weeks now, one tablet in the morning. I was fine at first. For the last 2 weeks I have been suffering from insane headaches, burning joints, pain and weakness in my hands and feet, nausea and dizziness and I have to clear my throat constantly and have a cough. After consulting my doctor, I am slowly tapering off the medication. This condition really scares me and I’m not at all anxious otherwise. My quality of life is completely restricted.
