  1. Nata

I took bupropion 300mg for 8 months and I felt noticeably better, my tolerance, focus and energy levels were optimal.
As I didn’t want to be dependent on a drug for a long time, I stopped taking it. Now I walk around with irritability and leaden tiredness, have hardly any drive and circulatory problems, but much more hunger. I hope it will get better in a few weeks.

  2. Lilly

I have been taking the medication for almost 3 weeks now and have not felt any positive effects.
    I have many side effects:
    – constant headaches
    – Irritability
    – Excessive sweating
    – Sudden onset of nausea
    – Difficulty concentrating
    – tiredness

  3. jj

Compared to other medications I have tried it had fewer side effects. No dry mouth or nausea.

  4. bipolar

I have been in a severe depressive episode of my newly diagnosed bipolar disorder for 8 months.
I have tried many medications and have now been taking bupropion 150mg for 7 weeks.

    First the positive:
-My worst symptoms of depression the derealization, standing next to myself, being wrapped in absorbent cotton, shielded from the outside world, has completely disappeared.
What all the medication couldn’t do before.
-I can sleep 7-8 hours a day again.
    -Concentration has improved a lot
-I “function” – I am able to cope with my everyday life, attend appointments etc.

    BUT, and now the negative:
    -The medication is totally dulling.
There are downturns with suicidal thoughts etc. but no more joy.
You just don’t feel anything positive anymore.
-Libido has completely disappeared since starting to take the drug
    -Weight gain of 4 kg
-No more feeling of fullness despite stomach reduction
-No more thirst – I used to drink 2-3 liters a day, now I can barely manage 500ml a day, which is far too little
-Alcohol no longer tastes good and has no effect apart from a film tear

Despite the fact that the medication provides good relief in one way, the side effects are enormously stressful for me and intensify my depression in other ways.
I will therefore stop taking the medication as soon as possible.

  5. hedge

I was recommended to take 150 mg of bupropion daily by my therapist due to a diagnosis of depression.
Initially, I had already filled the prescription for a 30 mg unit at the pharmacy, but refrained from taking it for the first time (‘I’m not taking an antidepressant!’). After about eight weeks, however, I desperately started taking it regularly when the listlessness and depressive phases became unbearable.

I didn’t notice any change in the first few days, but my family realised that I was feeling better with the medication, especially as far as my mood was concerned. As for my drive, I noticed it myself later on, because it came back thanks to bupropion. I was able to concentrate for longer and I found my interests again. On a positive note, bupropion had no effect on my libido (male patient).Depressive phases became significantly fewer and shorter – and I found that these reliably occurred in my case within the first two weeks after a blood donation (I had to stop donating blood regularly because of this realisation).

The noticeable side effects were an increased pulse rate and dry mouth, which is a side effect in most cases. The latter can easily be counteracted by drinking enough fluids – it didn’t bother me.At first I slept a little restlessly and had very vivid dreams, but this passed in the first few weeks. The vivid dreams remained, but that didn’t bother me in any way.The only thing I found disturbing was the increased pulse rate – as well as a leaden tiredness that reliably set in towards late afternoon/evening.
After 13 months of taking 150 mg bupropion daily, I suddenly noticed nummular eczema on my arms and earlobes and decided, together with my GP, to attribute this to bupropion as a side effect – I have also been taking candesartan for several years to treat high blood pressure. However, according to the manufacturer, skin problems occur much more frequently with bupropion than with candesartan.
I was also feeling much better mentally due to a change in my life circumstances, so I was ready to try it without an antidepressant. In the end, I discontinued bupropion in consultation with my therapist, which was actually planned to be phased out over a longer period of time, but was simply not resumed after three days without taking it.And that went without a hitch.

I have now been off bupropion for five weeks.

The nummular eczema on my arms and ears has almost completely disappeared – these were treated with an ointment as a supportive measure. The dry mouth disappeared after a few days.I have not (yet) had any depressive phases during this time, but I have noticed that my drive has diminished. In this regard, I have decided to counteract this through sport and other activities. After stopping the bupropion, I have had two migraine attacks in the last two weeks, which I have not had again during the 13 months I have been taking it.However, I put this down to the fact that I took in more fluids during this time due to the dry mouth caused by bupropion. My pulse rate has returned to normal, which I find very positive.
To summarise, I was satisfied with bupropion as it noticeably increased my drive and concentration span.I even miss the vivid dreams I had when taking bupropion. The side effect ‘dry mouth’ was tolerable, at most the leaden sleepiness towards late afternoon/evening and the increased pulse rate were disturbing. There were no effects on the libido. If the skin problems no longer occur, I am inclined to attribute them to bupropion as a side effect, even if they only occurred after 12 months of taking the drug.

For the time being, I hope not to have to take bupropion again, especially as I have recognised the regular blood donations primarily as a trigger for my depressive phases (this observation has been confirmed by my family).
However, if my drive does not increase despite all my efforts, I will consider taking it again in consultation with my therapist.

  6. IHH

I was prescribed the drug to treat my ADHD symptoms. I find it helps me to be more focused and organised.

  7. crazy

The first few weeks on bupropion were tough. I had headaches and was irritable, but that subsided over time. My mood is already much better thanks to the medication, which helps me especially in difficult phases of life, I’m talking about exams and at the same time private relationship problems combined with constant mood swings that would otherwise drive me crazy

  8. Hugo

Complete lethargy, any loss of libido (impotence) and depression.

  9. Salsa

I have been taking bupropion for over a year now and find that it really helps in the long term. My depressive phases have become much less frequent.

  10. nogood

I suffer from severe circulatory problems, which are manifested by dizziness, nausea, a feeling of weakness and tingling in my hands.

  11. Black

Before I started taking bupropion, I always felt a persistent gloom, an underlying stress that I couldn’t shake off. It was challenging to manage my stressful job and family life. bupropion has transformed my life in many positive ways. I handle stress better, the sense of impending doom has disappeared, and I’ve developed a passion for running, which has helped me lose a significant amount of weight. After about two years on bupropion, I gradually stopped taking it. A few months after stopping, I began to feel those familiar feelings creeping back. I’ve decided that I prefer who I am on bupropion and have started taking it again. In short, I’m very happy with this medication.
