I was given bisoprolol 1.25 mg due to cardiac arrhythmia (many noticeable extrasystoles) and seizure-like tachycardia (130 bpm upwards) during exercise/excitement, which often turned into panic attacks.

I have been taking the tablets in the morning for 3 months – since then I have gained 10 pounds despite moderate exercise and a healthy diet. Basal metabolic rate seems to have dropped rapidly. Hair loss
    GP sees no connection.

Bisoprolol 1.25 mg has helped me to lower my resting pulse rate & since then I have no more tachycardia, but now I feel bad (psychologically) due to the uncontrolled weight gain (where is this going?) and the hair loss.
So far, my doctor has not planned any change or adjustment, as the medication is helping.

Thinking about stopping on my own; which wouldn’t be a good idea, but the despair, phew. Why is this rapid weight gain not even mentioned in the package leaflet?

I have been taking the beta blockers for the 12th day now, I have had incredible pain, burning and pressure in my chest/heart area for days, which is associated with nervousness, restlessness and anxiety. At first I thought for a few days that it might be due to tension in my thoracic spine. But that is not the case! I got up today and felt great. As I forgot to take the beta blocker straight after getting up today, I was without it for 1 1/2 hours. As soon as I took it, I had the same unpleasant pain/pressure in my chest + restlessness/nervousness! Plus of course dizziness and slight nausea! I won’t be taking them from tomorrow!
